Officers from the New England Police District have so far seized three motorbikes from Moree in the past few weeks, as part of a targeted operation targeting the use of unregistered motorbikes in the region.
Moree Police officer-in-charge Inspector Martin Burke said the operation is a direct response to a rise in the unlawful use of motorbikes since the relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions.

"Police are concerned at the lack of parental responsibility around the use of these motorbikes, with some parents and relatives purchasing these motorbikes which are being ridden recklessly by young people in Moree," he said.
Inspector Burke said police have the power to seize unregistered bikes that are ridden on public roads, with three seized over the past few weeks.
He warns more will be seized if motorbike owners do not abide by the law.
"Our message is simple: if you use an unregistered motorbike on the road you will lose it!" he said.
