The reunion had been held in Moree for the past three years, however following the death of North West National Servicemen's Association president and Moree RSL sub-branch president Reg Jamieson last year, the Gosford City sub-branch offered to host the 2020 reunion.
"They asked to run it to take a little bit of pressure off us, because we're losing so many of our committee men," current North West sub-branch president Barry Fitzgerald, who took over from Reg, said.
"We've lost five committee men in the last year."
It was decided that as of 2020, the annual reunion would be alternated between Gosford and Moree each year.
This year was going to be the first time Gosford had hosted the reunion, which draws hundreds of people from across the state.
However, since Christmas, the Gosford City sub-branch president and secretary have been struck by injury and illness, rendering them unable to proceed in organising the reunion.
"Plus the bushfires have affected committee men and left them unable to come to meetings and organise the reunion," Mr Fitzgerald said.
As a result, it was decided to cancel this year's reunion.
The North West sub-branch will be having a meeting in Moree on January 31 to decide whether to go ahead with the running of next year's reunion, set to be held in Moree.
Mr Fitzgerald encourages all members to attend the meeting at Moree Services Club at 4.30pm on Friday, January 31.
