Until Christmas Day, Moree shoppers can purchase $2 'Thank you' donation cards at Coles Moree with all funds raised to be split evenly between food rescue organisation SecondBite, the Country Women's Association, and Redkite - a charity providing essential support to children and young people with cancer and their families.
The fundraising campaign comes as Coles research shows more than one in three Australian shoppers intend to donate cash to charity this Christmas - with one in four New South Wales locals likely to donate up to $50 in cash.
"We know there will be many Australians facing tough times at Christmas," Coles CEO Steven Cain said.
"That's why we wanted to support three remarkable organisations which are making a big difference in our communities."
One NSW local benefiting from this year's appeal is Stephanie Wells, whose daughter was diagnosed with Wilms Tumour in June 2017, greatly impacting their family's daily life and financial situation.
Stephanie said her family didn't know what help was available before her daughter was diagnosed, and were grateful to know they weren't alone.
"After April's diagnosis we were admitted to Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick and Redkite provided immediate support with an overnight bag and a book explaining the particular tumour April had," she said.
"We received regular petrol vouchers which were a big help and gave us one less thing to worry about.
"When April lost her hair Redkite gave us funds for a wig to be designed based on photos I had of her with hair.
"Redkite also provided emotional support to myself and April especially when her anxiety increased due to all the stress experienced over time."
This year, thanks to the generosity of Coles store teams and customers, Redkite supported 360 families and 315 young people throughout Sydney and greater Sydney. Of those, 177 families received financial support, 199 families accessed counselling services and 62 families received career and education support.
Moree shoppers can further contribute to Redkite by purchasing a delicious, lightly spiced gingerbread, a mouth-watering chocolate reindeer or a scrumptious vanilla elf for $1 until Christmas Day, with 20 cents from every sale going directly to Redkite.
