Around one month after Balo Street Medical Centre was forced to temporarily close its doors, two of its former doctors are preparing to open their new medical practice, Gwydir Medical.
Dr Callum Fealy and Dr Alaa Omar Said will be taking their first appointments in just under a week in their interim facility in the old Picone maternity building at the Moree Hospital.
While the Balo St centre was only closed for four days, there was no information provided, due to legal reasons, as to why it had to shut so suddenly.
In an unexpected turn of events, a new owner in a female obstetrician GP, came on board to ensure the Balo St centre did not stay closed for long.
While they will no longer be working at Balo St, the centre's former doctors reassured the Moree community that they were here to stay.
"We all live in Moree and consider ourselves part of the community," Dr Callum Fealy said.
"We are committed to continuing to serve the community, particularly right now during these tough times that people are facing with the ongoing lack of rain."
Gwydir Medical will provide all the usual medical practice services such as general, surgical and pre-anaesthetic consults, wound dressings, Practice Nurse health checks and immunisations.
Dr Fealy said it's important to note they do not have any access to the Balo St medical records.
"For anything other than a very simple matter we are strongly advising patients to first contact Balo St and obtain a health summary and any relevant specialist letters and investigation," he said.
"Please bring these with you when you see us. The more information we have available, the better we can help you."
They are currently taking bookings for appointments that will begin next Monday, May 13, which can be made by calling their mobile contact on 0474 888 748 which is available from 9am to 5pm on all week days.
Access will be via the clinics and allied health entrance on Alice street at the Western end of the Picone building, with signs that will direct patients to the practice entrance which is in the clinics portion of the building.
Transfer of medical record forms will be available to be signed by dropping in to the practice today between 9am and 12pm.
Alternatively, you can email reception@gwydirmedical.com.au requesting a transfer of records form to be emailed, which you can then either email the completed form or drop it back in person.
