Senior citizens from across the district came together to enjoy a lovely meal and quality entertainment at Moree Services Club as part of 2019 Moree Seniors Festival.

About 130 seniors from Moree, Pallamallawa, Mungindi and even Stanwell Park near Wollongong, attended the event on Wednesday, April 3, enjoying a two-course meal and entertainment by Peter and Vicki Deneven.
"It's been a great success," organiser Lorraine Bartel said.

A highlight of the luncheon was the announcement of Moree Plains Shire Council's 2019 Senior Citizen of the Year award, which went to Aunty Mary Swan. Unfortunately, Mrs Swan was in hospital and unable to attend the luncheon on Wednesday, so her daughter Debbie Swan accepted the award from councillor Kerry Cassells on her behalf.
Mrs Swan was one of four nominees for the 2019 award, including Claude Magarry, Darrel Bird and Constance Potts.
