The luncheon, set to be held this Sunday, April 7, will form part of the judging for the 2019 Moree Showgirl Competition.
This will be the first time Moree and District Historical Society has held a luncheon for many years, and Moree Showgirl coordinator Kate Lumber said it will add an additional element to the judging process that will ultimately benefit the entrants.
"We're just trying to bring back a bit of capacity-building into the showgirl program," she said.
"At the moment the program is just the day of judging and involvement in the show, however this will mean the judging will also include the lunch and a little bit of public speaking, which is a good skill for the girls to practise."
The judging for the 2019 Showgirl Competition will all take place this Sunday, with entrants to each participate in a 10 to 15-minute interview with the panel of three judges, before being judged in a group setting with the judges and a few members of the show committee.
The luncheon will commence at the completion of the interviews and aims to celebrate the Moree Showgirl Competition and 2019 entrants. It will form the final part of the judging with competitors to present a two minute impromptu speech, giving attendants an opportunity to get to know the 2019 entrants.
2018 Moree Showgirl Bronte Marshall will also provide a year in review.

The luncheon will also help support and promote this year's 'drought buster' Moree Show, which will feature a slightly different program as a result of the drought. Ms Lumber said this year it is especially important for the whole community to support the show.
If you are interested in being a part of this year's showgirl competition, it's not too late.
The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition is a rural ambassador program that encourages community involvement and participation and aims to advocate for rural women and the issues facing their local communities.
"It is a great platform for personal and professional growth that proves to be an invaluable experience to all," Ms Lumber said.
