A Gravesend man is set to appear in court in April after being charged in relation to the theft of sheep last year.

About 80 Dorper sheep escaped from a hole in a boundary fence on a property at Gravesend in June 2018.
The sheep were earmarked and had NLIS tags in their ears.
Twenty-three of those sheep were later located on a nearby property and returned to the owner in October.
It will be alleged that the NLIS ear tags had been removed from the sheep and that 12 of them had been earmarked in the opposite ear with a new earmark.
Following a subsequent appeal for information on the NSW Police Rural Crime Facebook page, the Moree Rural Crime Prevention Team were able to identify the new ear mark and speak to a nearby property owner.
On February 15, the man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Moree Local Court on April 1, 2019.
In this instance the proper identification of the livestock greatly assisted the Rural Crime Investigators with their enquiries.
Police would like to remind property owners that if livestock stray onto your property, you are legally obliged to contact the owner (if able to do so) or advise police or your local council ranger.
