For ten days, from September 27 until October 6, Balo Square shoppers will be entertained by country music singers to assist in raising drought awareness and provide a donation point for Rural Aid.
Community donations will be matched dollar for dollar by the centre, with a local target of $8,000 in total.
As one of 20 participating Charter Hall shopping centres, donations from Balo Square will contribute towards a national target of $115,000 to be matched by Charter Hall, resulting in a possible $230,000 for Rural Aid.
“Rural Aid have committed to distributing 100 per cent of our donations to Aussie Farmers, which was really important to us when forming this partnership,” Balo Square marketing manager Emily Howard said.
“You don’t have to drive far to see how dry the land is at the moment, and through the media we are seeing the impact the drought is having on Farmers around Australia.
“Dam Good is a way for us to give back to those most affected whilst helping to create further awareness of the great work Rural Aid is providing to in need communities,” Mrs Howard said.
To make ‘dam sure’ the donation target is reached, visit Balo Square shopping centre and follow the sound of country music playing between 10am – 1pm daily.
Chris Strohfeld will play today and tomorrow (Tuesday, October 2 and Wednesday, October 3).
On Thursday, Strawberry Jam will take the stage and on Friday Kristy Bolton will entertain shoppers.
Kristy will then wrap things up on Saturday.
Outside of performance times, shoppers will be able to place donations in the Dam Good display located outside Coles.
Rural Aid was founded in 2015 to provide a holistic support program to rural Australia.
The starting point for the charity was the success of the Buy a Bale campaign, which to date has received over $4.5 million in donations, distributed through fodder, hampers and more.
