The 62-year-old Moree man has been on the run from police since August 2016 when he failed to appear at court on serious offences.
Around 4pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 25) officers attached to New England Police District executed a search warrant at a residence in Moree.
Police will allege the man was located hiding in a cavity inside a bed.
A quantity of cash, ammunition and electronic equipment was located during the search and seized for examination.
A 59-year-old local woman, who was present at the search, is assisting police with their investigation.
The local man remains bail refused pending an appearance at Moree Local Court later today.
"This arrest is a great reflection of the investigative skills of our local officers who have spent some time gathering evidence to lead us to yesterday’s successful arrest.
“And whilst this arrest is significant there are still other persons at large in our community. We regularly put up information about our wanted persons on the New England PD Facebook page as part of Project Eyewatch,” Superintendent Scott Tanner said.
Superintendent Tanner said there was current and valid information which indicates wanted persons are currently being harboured by locals within our community.
“These people are criminals, known to be violent against persons within this community and including their own family members – assisting them in evading arrest not only places the community at risk but also yourselves.”
Anyone who sees or knows the whereabouts of these wanted persons should not approach but contact police via Triple Zero (000) or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Do not report information via Facebook.
