Moree Plains Shire Council’s waste support officer Dayna Kross explained council encouraged locals to sell their unwanted household goods such as clothes, toys, kitchenware and sporting equipment from the boot of a vehicle, back of a truck or trailer or a marquee stall setup at Jellicoe Park.
“This year’s initiative is to create the king of garage sales and have everyone participate in selling their pre-loved goods and equipment at one location, creating a market atmosphere.
“This sustainability event helps people come together as a community to re-think what waste really is and how we can reuse items so they don’t end up in landfill,” said Mrs Kross.
There are no fees for participating in the market, but you must register via the Garage Sale Trail website https://www.garagesaletrail.com.au/sale/1366 or through Council’s Waste team by phoning (02) 6757 3222.
On the day, just bring your own tables to display your goods on, chairs and shelters; or a vehicle filled with your pre-loved items for sale.
This event is not for the purpose of commercial trade or the home hobbyist (arts and crafts); however local businesses can participate if they wish to sell second-hand or unwanted business equipment such as desks, chairs, electronic goods or tools.
The Moree’s Garage Sale Trail second-hand market and car-boot sale initiative is hosted by Moree Plains Shire Council in partnership with the not-for-profit Australian organisation, the Garage Sale Trail Foundation.
