Hundreds gathered at Moree Golf Course for a day of fun and fundraising, all for Variety, the Children’s Charity through bash car entrant 2400, in the lead-up to the 2018 Brydens Lawyers B to B Bash from Bonnyrigg to Braitling.
The greens were overrun with plenty of colourful characters and costumes, with teams once again getting creative with their outfits - jailbirds and giraffes to crayons and clowns, and even Barbaby’s brides, were spotted among the 36 teams.
Seven celebrities, including one mystery celebrity, and Moree golf pro Matthew McGuire, were auctioned off to play for teams at the start of the day.
This year a new record was set, with a whopping $53,500 raised during the celebrity auction alone.
“How amazing is that, thank you so much, that is incredible,” event organiser and Variety bash participant Lee Estens said.
“The day doesn’t happen without our amazing sponsors, supporters and helpers.”
Mystery celebrity guest, Melbourne-Cup winning jockey Jim Cassidy, was auctioned off for $12,500.
“It’s wonderful to be here, it’s an honour,” he said.
“Just looking around at some of the outfits, outstanding.”

Peter Weal and Paul Kelly conducted the auction this year, in place of long-time Charity Golf Day supporter and auctioneer, the late Anthony ‘Dipper’ Diprose, who was sorely missed on Wednesday.
“We miss our mate,” Mrs Estens said.
