Officers responded to reports of affray in Moree throughout Sunday afternoon and evening after the game between the Boars and Boomerangs.
“Police believe that some of the disputes that happened between some parties are unrelated to football,” Moree officer-in-charge Martin Burke said.
“Regardless of the cause, police don’t condone people to take matters into their own hands. Any unlawful violence will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken.”
Inspector Burke added police would be working closely with other parties to determine the nature of the incidents.
“Police will be working with all parties from both clubs, including the Country Rugby League with a view of identifying any offences committed. Police will investigate any claims brought to them in regards to offences.
“Police will also leave the Country Rugby League to carry out an independent investigation.”
Inspector Burke encouraged anyone with information or video footage relating to the incidents to bring them forward to local police.
