Reconciliation Week kicks off this Sunday, May 27 and one of the highlights of the week will be the Reconciliation Cook-Off at Kirkby Park from 10am on Tuesday, May 29.

Hosted by Moree Secondary College, in partnership with the National Heart Foundation and supported by Moree Reconciliation committee, the event will see four teams of four battle it out to cook the best quick, healthy meal.
Each team will draw a recipe - given the the tick of approval by the National Heart Foundation - from a hat with ingredients and equipment provided. Teams will follow the recipe, cook the meal and present it to be judged by local Elders. Points will be awareded for taste, colour and presentation.
All community members are invited to come along and watch the teams battle it out to see who will be crowned the Make Healthy Normal Moree Reconciliation Cook-Off champions.

There will be a free, healthy curry and damper lunch provided, while Pius X Aboriginal Corporation will be conducting free blood pressure checks.
Attendees will also be able to take home healthy recipes recommended by the National Heart Foundation.

The cook-off is one of just many events planned throughout next week.
The first event on Moree’s Reconciliation Week calendar is the Reconciliation Red Shield Appeal barbecue at Woolworths from 10am to 2pm on Sunday, May 27.
The week will then step up a notch on Monday, May 28 with a reconciliation breakfast at the Barwon Learning Centre at 8am.
This will be followed by the Moree Reconciliation Week official opening at the Dhiiyaan Centre at 10.30am.
St Philomena’s will also have a combined Reconciliation and Catholic Schools Week Liturgy at 12.30pm, with a sausage sizzle for all.
In addition to the cook-off on Tuesday, there will be a morning tea at Moree Public School at 10.30am and then 2VM 1530 will have a Mission Beat Reconciliation Week Yarn Up.
Events will continue throughout the week until Sunday, June 3.
