Clive Hickling led the trend, scoring the first try for the Boars. William Beale, Joseph Wade, Holt Cubis, Stan Swan and Ashley Jarret followed suit, securing a 40-14 triumph over the visiting team. The victory places the A-Grade team at the top of the ladder.
Ladies league-tag brought home a 28-4 victory, securing the team’s second spot on the ladder. Shai-lee Smith, Shonnelea Smith and Brittany Tighe each scored a try.
U18s Boars enjoyed a 22-18 victory, and sit fifth on the ladder.
A-Grade Boomerangs have taken home a victory in the third round after they thrashed Armidale Rams at the opposition’s home ground.
The team bounced back from their 34-24 upset against the Boars in the round two clash to beat the Rams 60-8.
“I’m more than happy to swallow some humble pie after the Boomerangs’ loss to the Boars. It’s not about losing a game, but what you learn from the loss that really counts. We are called the Boomerangs for a reason: we will come back,” A-Grade coach Chris Binge said.
The Boomerangs welcomed Taylor Binge to the back row and Anthony Williams to the front, and used last week’s training to work on their defence.
“League is a simple game. If you defend well and control the ball, you’ll get the results. At the end of the first half, the team had completed 15 out of 19 sets. That’s a good sign the team has been training hard,” Binge said.
The team sits third on the ladder.
Reserve grade sits at the top of the ladder, after a 58-20 win against Armidale. U18s took home a 32-20 triumph, and sit second on the ladder while the league-tag team sit on the third rung after a 12-4 victory.
