Bulls coach Peter Copeman said you never know what to expect in first round hit-outs but that Inverell are always a tough side.
“It’s always a pretty unknown quantity at this stage, all you can go off is trial form and that’s not very good,” he said.
“We’re a little underprepared; this time of year is always hard but we’ve come up with a pretty reasonable side.”
The Bulls have welcomed a number of new players this season, bringing a mix of old and new players to both first and second grades.
“Everyone’s got to get to know each other but it’s nice to have some new players around,” Copeman said.
Last year the Bulls finished third in the first grade Central North competition and Copeman would like to see the side do better this year.
“The goal is always to try and win the grand final,” he said.
“It doesn’t always happen but you’ve got to aim high. You always try and go one or two better every year.”
With some good sides in the competition, including favourites Tamworth Pirates and Walcha Rams, Copeman said it’ll be tough, but his goal is to try and get through the first round with half a dozen wins under the belt.
All the round one action will get underway at Weebolla Oval from 1pm when second grade kick off. There will be an under 12s match at 2.30pm, followed by first grade at 3.15pm.
