It is especially traumatic as it is also the anniversary of the Waterloo Creek Massacre.
For the past few years, the Moree Gamilaraay Invasion Day committee has organised a gathering to commemorate the terrible events of January 26, 1838, which saw about 300 Gamilaraay people killed by police.
Local people gathered together at 11am this morning to march down the main street bringing awareness to the events which happened on January 26 at Waterloo Creek.
Afterwards, the crowd gathered in a circle at Jellicoe Park and told their stories.
