Cr Humphries will be assisted by newbie Stephen Ritchie as deputy mayor.
There were two nominations for the position of mayor, with Cr Humphries contested by new councillor Kerry Cassells.
Two nominees were also vying the role of deputy mayor – Cr Ritchie and Sue Price, who previously held the position for eight years.
Councillors voted to hold an ordinary ballot for the election of both mayor and deputy mayor.
The returning mayor thanked councillors for their continued support.
“Thank you Kerry for contesting,” she said.
“I hope we can move forward as a strong, cohesive council who will discuss and debate local issues, not the pesonalities.
“We have a lot of work to do over the next four years, not just the next two, to make sure we are fit for the future.”
Cr Humphries will hold her seat for the next two years, while Cr Ritchie will have only 12 months in the role, as voted by councillors.
“I look forward to working with you Stephen,” Cr Humphries said.
“Cr Price, on behalf of council, I thank you for eight years of dedicated service. I hope you remain a very active member of council, as we are sure you will.”
