COWBOYS, superheroes, and an entire bridal party strutted their stuff at St Philomena’s last Thursday night to raise over $1000 towards St Vincent de Paul. More than 100 people filled the hall for the student-modelled fashion parade, raising $1100 at the door and another $200 at the Vinnies store.

“I was floored by how much we made,” organiser Lauren Donnelly said.
“I think it's the most we've ever made.”
She said involving the whole school was a good move, amping up the excitement among the students and staff. A few younger siblings, not yet school age, had fun joining their big brothers and sisters on the runway. Students chose their ensembles from the local Vinnie's shop beforehand, resulting in a unique collection.
“We had some cowboys, we had some superheroes, some very funky looking girls and then we had our bridal party at the end,” she said. The bridal party was committed to their characters, walking down the runway to the song Chapel of Love and even tossing a bouquet.
“It was a very excited atmosphere,” Lauren said. She said the school had a close relationship with St Vincent de Paul, and it was always great to raise funds for the worthy organisation.
Alaina Seery, Paris Phillis and Demi Thorburn entertained the crowd with musical performances. Lauren was pleased to see the high schoolers join in, and said she always endeavoured to have as many students involved as possible.
“It’s a great opportunity to showcase the talents of the students of the school,” she said.
