'The awards recognise individual, business, community organisations, and initiatives that are advancing reconciliation and respectful relationships in Moree.
They could be for building cross-cultural understanding through employment or training initiatives, education, partnerships or engaging with the local community.
Locals are encouraged to enter friends and family who meet the individual categories, which include male and female elder of the yearAboriginal and Non-Aboriginal, citizen of the yearAboriginal and Non-Aboriginal and youth of the year-Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal.
There are also award categories for business of the year, community organisation of the yearfunded and community organisation of the yearvoluntary.
Among the other awards are senior and junior sportsperson of the year- Aboriginal and NonAboriginal, the Uncle Albert Dennison Caring for Country Award, school based trainee- Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal, traineeship- Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal, employee of the year- Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal and the culture and creative arts Award-Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal.
Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony at the Moree Town Hall held during Reconciliation Week on Friday, June 3 commencing at 6pm.
Nominations are open until May 4.
