Moree president, David Watts, said riders from Collarenebri, Mungindi, Garah/ Boomi, Tulloona, North Star, Warialda, Gravesend, Bingara, Upper Horton, Gurley and Moree competed in a number of events over two and a half days.
“Practically after each club’s pony camp, up to 18 of the club’s best riders are selected to compete in a jamboree. A number of associates aged from 17 to 25 are also chosen to compete for the different clubs,” he said.
Over the few days, riders ran through dressage, show jumping, hack, riding and sporting events.
“We’ve had a really good couple of days actually, it’s warm but it’s been great. Everything has run smoothly, especially our big day of sporting events on Wednesday. We’ve had a lot of compliments on the layout of the grounds,” Watts said.
Each age group was awarded a champion as well as the overall club winner of the 2015 jamboree.
“We get to host the jamboree every eight years and it can be hard. Particularly because eight years ago it was a completely different committee but our new committee has done a fantastic job and everyone has put in a lot of effort to organise the large event,” he said.
Watts thanked the support of local business sponsors along with the community.
“All of the kids need to be commended on their patience, skills and their sportsmanship. It’s great to come out and see kids from Moree bonding and congratulating their friends from places like Tulloona and Upper Horton. Not only do these kids develop their riding skills but also their social skills with meeting and bonding with kids from all over the region,” Watts said.
The results of the 2015 PCA jamboree will be printed in the following edition of the Moree Champion.
