It is believed two people have died and another is in a coma.
Castlereagh LAC crime manager Inspector Tony Mureau said at this stage the deaths were not being attributed to the consumption of moonshine.
“Those deaths are the subject of an investigation and a report is being prepared for the coroner,” Insp Mureau said.
He confirmed police were investigating the sale and supply of moonshine at Collarenebri but said he would neither confirm nor deny the many rumours swirling the community.
“A person is assisting us with our investigations but at this stage no arrest has been made and no-one has been charged.
“Those investigations are also continuing.”
