Despite the condition of the playing surface, a high quality game was played but it was the striking of Racquel Clark who proved the difference.
Clark continued her stellar performance throughout the season where she amassed 37 goals to be awarded the top goalscorer award.
Secretary, Carol Bailey, said overall a good standard of hockey was on show.
“It was a great effort from everyone and plenty of skills were shown by the juniors in both teams in a quite even game except for the striking skills of Rhodes Kildea.”
The Vicki Urquart Memorial Trophy was awarded to Helen Kaukiainen.
“This trophy is not given out very often but goes to people who go far and beyond what is expected. Helen’s dedication to the continuance of Moree hockey and junior hockey is a credit to her,” Bailey said.
Wendy Thompson was awarded best and fairest by the referees for the grand final while in his first ever hockey season, Nick Sim was awarded best and fairest for the season.
Bailey said it had been a successful season and they were looking ahead to the 2015 season.
“Thank you to the referees who travelled from Inverell and thank you to Arvo Kaukiainen who marked the fields whenever needed. Finally, thanks as always to the committee.”
