Mr Bruce was awarded the medal for his continued work in the Moree community, especially honouring the war veterans.
He was a foundation of the national servicemen’s North West sub branch and a life member since 2008, president of the Moree sub branch, Returned and Services League of Australia treasurer, and a fundraiser for ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.
Mr Bruce was a main contributor to the Max Wales memorial being built on the western side of the Moree and District Services Club.
He has also been a member of the Lions Club for about 30 years, a supporter of the botanic gardens, and many more local community groups.
Mr Bruce now lives in Bargara and will continue his volunteer work there.
Meanwhile, former Barwon Local Area Commander Wayne Starling has also been honoured with an Australian Police Medal.
Now in the Lake Illawarra district, Mr Starling left a great legacy in Barwon and mentored many of our current officers.
