Moree on a plate will this year feature a number of activities at different venues around town. The main festival will be held at Moree Secondary College Albert Street Campus on Saturday May 12.
Moree on a Plate president Phoebe Watts said she was looking forward to a great festival.
“Moree has been through a tough couple of months, but this is an opportunity for the whole community to come together in a variety of forms. The 2012 festival promises to be fantastic with a number of activities confirmed,” she said.
The celebration gets started on Friday evening with artist Georgina Hart at The Moree Gallery. The Moree on a plate food and wine festival will then run on Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm, followed by a Gala Evening held at the Town and Country Club.
As well as favourites from previous years, there will be a range of new activities.
Celebrity Chef Darren Simpson will host cooking demonstrations, and local band Little Poppy will provide entertainment.
The Kid’s Korner will keep children occupied while their parents enjoy the range of local produce.
On Saturday night five-piece Radio Club Band will perform at the Gala Evening.
The Committee is asking for as many volunteers as possible to ensure the day runs smoothly. There is a wide variety of jobs over the festival and committee members are encouraging local groups to pitch in as well.
“Jobs such as putting up and pulling down tents, rubbish removal and manning the gate, amongst others, are opportunities for the local community, be it a school, sporting group or any other group, to be part of well established event and boost their fundraising,” Mrs Watts said.
