Sewage testing released on this morning (Friday, Octtober 22) confirmed the community may contain unidentified coronavirus cases.
Dr Jeremy McAnulty strongly encouraged residents to be on alert.
The detections are of particular concern because there are no known cases in the community.
The sewage testing is very effective in identifying a positive virus case, Dr McAnulty said.
"We are urging people to come forward for testing if you have even the mildest of symptoms," he said.
Additional sewage samples will be submitted for testing today and results will be advised to the community as soon as possible.
In response to the positive test result, there will be a walk in Covid-19 testing clinic at the Moree hospital tomorrow (Saturday, Oct 23) from 9 am until 12 midday.
There is no need to book. Remember to wear your mask.
And, if you haven't already had the jab, their walk-in vaccination clinic will be open from 10am until 12.45 at the hospital.
