Local contractor Wilde Civil was last month appointed by Moree Plains Shire Council to undertake the demolition works and this week they've begun deconstructing the Olympic pool.
"Council is pleased to have local contractor Wilde Civil on board to complete the deconstruction works of the MAAC Olympic pool," a council spokesperson said in a Facebook post.
"Wilde Civil has worked successfully with council over many years on a number of projects and are currently making great progress on deconstructing the MAAC Olympic pool."

Once the demolition is complete, works will begin to reconstruct the new pool, following community consultation.
At this stage the pool will remain closed for the 2020-2021 swimming season while the reconstruction process takes place.
While the Olympic pool is closed, all other pools at the MAAC are open under COVID-19 operating session times.
