Children aged as young as three and up to 15 took part, with the number of participants growing.
"We're getting more and more as the week goes on," Moree Little Athletics Club president Kelly James said.
"We had more register on Thursday, then more register on Friday (today).
"People obviously weren't ready for the start of it or forgot it was on. We expect more people by next week."

Adam Josilee from Little Athletics Australia was also there on Wednesday night.
"He ran the parents through some drills, showed them how to assist each week in helping the kids do the drills at training," Mrs James said.
"The kids were really happy. We had a lot of parents there helping out.
"There were a lot of younger kids excited and happy to join the games and drills."
The club also hosted a come and try day two weeks ago, with around 50 children attending in the lead up to the start of the season.
In a further boost for the club, they received a $148.97 donation from Moree Regional Australia Bank through the Community Partnerships Program.
Moree BMX Club have also donated their $1885.61 donation they received after the club folded.
"We're going to be getting some electric starters with that and some practice shot puts for the younger kids, and some flags so when we're away at competitions people can recognise Moree Little Athletics," Mrs James said.
Moree Little Athletics runs every Wednesday night for around one hour from 5.15 onwards.
The zone championships will be held in December, leading into the regional championships in February before state championships in March.
The club is also hoping to host a gala day in Moree while encouraging their athletes to compete in others throughout the region.
Registrations are still open and will be until December and can be done through the Little Athletics website or by coming along to a little athletics session.
"We're always happy to share some information and help them get started," Mrs James said.
