About all that is certain is that Walcha will finish minor premiers.
The Rams were one of the casualties, going down to a resurgent Gunnedah 24-nil, but have the cushion of an assured five points in the final round for the bye and a massive 200+ points differential on Narrabri, who usurped Moree after the Bulls suffered a shock 43-33 loss to Scone.
The upset of the round, and arguably the season, the boot of Brumbies five-eighth Jack Thomas and the Bulls illdiscipline proved the difference with both sides scoring five tries a-piece.
The Bulls have now lost three on the trot but will pick up five points next week for the bye.
They then tackle arch rivals Narrabri in a final round showdown that in all likelihood will decide second spot after the Blue Boars pipped Pirates 27-26 at Dangar Park, Michael Cain's 75th minute penalty completing a stunning fightback from the home side.
Down 19-nil after half an hour they fought back to 19-7 at half-time. The premiers kicked away again to lead 26-10 midway through the second half but the Blue Boars scored 16 unanswered points to remain unbeaten in the second round. Pirates did have a late penalty shot but were unsuccessful.
In the other game a double to replacement Tom Apthorpe helped Inverell account for Barraba 34-12.
