Police Dog Chief has been named as the dog involved in the arrest of a wanted man in Moree last week.

Following a short vehicle pursuit at about 9.45pm on Tuesday, April 16, the wanted man dumped the car he was driving in Jacaranda Drive Moree and started to run to avoid police.
PD Chief, his handler and local police followed the man through properties and over fences before he was cornered in a yard.

The man, who was wanted for a revocation of parole, attempted to strike PD Chief with a pole before his handler and local crews placed him under arrest.
The 26-year-old man was then taken to hospital for treatment to injuries relating to a dog bite. On his release from hospital he was returned to custody to serve the balance of his parole.
PD Chief was not injured in the incident.
