At about 7pm on Sunday, March 24, officers attached to New England Police District attempted to stop a silver Toyota Corolla hatchback on the Newell Highway at Bellata for a random breath test.
The driver was directed to stop; however police will allege the driver instead accelerated.
As a result, a pursuit was initiated and the driver was followed towards Gurley before police terminated the pursuit.
The vehicle was later located near the intersection of Tyrone Road and the Newell Highway where police will allege the male driver absconded.
An extensive search of the area resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old Moree man.
New England Police District Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Ann Joy said "whilst the alleged driver of the vehicle has been charged, investigations are continuing".
"Police also appeal for any motorist who was travelling in that area at the time and saw a vehicle matching that description to come forward, especially anyone with dashcam footage," she said.
The 25-year-old driver will be charged with serious traffic offences.
The man is expected to appear before Moree Bail Court some time on Monday, March 25.
