Artists now have until 5pm Friday, November 9 to submit their artworks to Bank Art Museum Moree (BAMM).
The Moree Portrait Prize is open to all ages and artworks in all media. BAMM Director Vivien Clyne is looking forward to seeing what local artists produce for the second iteration of the prize.
“Last year we had over 90 entries to the competition and awarded artists $2500 worth of cash prizes across five categories.”
The cash prizes on offer are:
- Under 12s $200
- Under 18s $300
- Local Prize $500
- People’s Choice $500
- Grand Prize $1000
A particularly popular aspect of the competition is the under 12s and under 18s prizes.
“We are so glad to be able to offer prizes for children and teens,” Ms Clyne said.
“Last year the competition was well supported by local schools and we’d love to see even more entries from students in 2018.
“It’s a fantastic way to encourage young people to get creative.”
The exhibition will open on Friday, November 23 and run up until Christmas, with a People’s Choice vote running throughout.
The 2018 People’s Choice Prize is sponsored by Rhodes Kildea Lawyers.
“The show will run for over a month so people have plenty of time to vote for their favourite artwork,” Ms Clyne said.
“Last year we had over 250 people vote for the People’s Choice Prize, which was won by local artist Amy Canfield.”
