“I’m very happy with the boys and how they played and behaved on the weekend,” coach Scott Girard said.

The Boars led the game with a strong attack and landed the first two tries of the match. 

Though the Boomerangs quickly retaliated and and soon led the scoreboard at the start of the second half.

Though, the Boars managed to regain their footing and stole the last twenty minutes of the game.

The razor thin victory followed from intense and fiery plays, with the victory taking a toll on both teams.

“The team was down five A-Grade players, so for the team to get the score they did is a great achievement. It wasn’t as good a win as it would’ve been with the full squad, but it was still good,” Girard said.

The Boomerangs lost two players in the space of fifteen minutes in the first half for multiple reasons.

Kyle Saunders walked off the field due to severe asthma and James Creighton was taken off the field due to an injury.

“We think it might be a broken rib,” coach Chris Binge said. “He stayed in hospital last night and I’m just waiting to hear back from the doctors.”

Moree Boars Reserve Grade enjoyed a 30-22 victory, while the ladies league-tag took home a 16-10 win.

The U18s Boars suffered a 14-12 loss.
