From May 1 to May 5, the year 11 and 12 students experienced and explored the hospitality industry in a social and relevant context, visiting Sydney markets, Sydney Fish Markets, ANZ Stadium, The Star Casino, The Old Clare Hotel and Spice Alley.
The excursion focused on exploring outcomes and teaching students of up-to-date knowledge of trends in the hospitality industry.
“Students explored the journey of food products once they leave the farm (food markets, wholesaler, receiving and storing stock, function preparation, food prep, food plating and presenting),” hospitality teacher Jessi-lee Stewart said.
“They experienced back of house activities in a variety of workplaces and in large scale, and also received extensive information from experienced chefs and event management staff.”
For some students it was their first trip to Sydney and Ms Stewart said it was a great experience for them.
“Students negotiated with peers to enjoy an exciting and special hospitality excursion,” she said.
