“Cooee Park is a place that enhances the community and it’s important for kids to have a safe place to play,” Moree Plains Shire Council director of engineering services Ian Dinham said.
The $13,000 will be taken from the pool of funds that were left over from the initial construction of the park.
“There was about $31,000 left over after construction. The $13,000 will be taken from that collection,” Mr Dinham said.
Cooee Park received a face-lift during the second half of last year, the end result of 12-months of consultation. The previously undeveloped area was transformed into a community space with paths, benches, football posts and barbecue facilities.
This time around, $6,000 will afford vandal resistant bubblers; $3,200 will provide a concrete path extension; $3,000 will cover irrigation of 10 trees and $800 will be put into fence repairs.
Moree Plains Shire Council will review Cooee Park in 12 months time to determine where the remaining $18,000 should be allocated.
“Council is pleased to provide these facilities for the benefit of the community. It is important that we use ratepayer’s money wisely to invest in amenities vital to the community,” Mr Dinham said.
