“As a whole the team played really well, and I give full credit to the Eels as they were a difficult squad to beat,” A-Grade coach Scott Girard said.
Girard explained the opposition had been floated as one of the better teams in the ladder and that they had been tipped to win the competition.
“They’ve got a couple of new fellas on the team this year, and they’re bigger-built players right across the park.”
And it seemed the Boars’ fairytale start to the season might be coming to an end come half time, when the Eels led the game 22-18.
“The Boars were lacking a bit in the first half. We were stuck in the grind and our defence wasn’t great. But football is just like arm wrestling. You have to stay in the grind and keep going. And the boys certainly picked up their game in the second half,” Girard said.

But the Boars managed to push back at the turn of the second half of the game and stole a 42-26 victory.
“As a whole, the team did really well. I was so impressed with the score, because I didn’t know what to expect going up against a difficult team like the Eels,” Girard said.
Girard said he hoped more supporters would come down to watch a game and cheer on the team.
“The Boars are celebrating their 100th year, and it’d be good to get some old footballers to come and watch some of these games.”
Ladies league-tag also enjoyed an 18-12 victory while Reserve grade took home a 36-34 win.
A-Grade Moree Boomerangs also enjoyed the taste of victory, having beaten Inverrel Hawks 38-14. They currently sit second on the ladder, following close behind first-place Boars.
Reserve Grade tied with Inverell 30-30. They sit on top of the ladder ahead of second-place Boars. U18s team won due to forfeit and sit second on the ladder, ahead of fourth-place Boars. Ladies league-tag also savoured a 28-0 triumph and sit first on the ladder, with second-place Boars trailing behind.
