“Around 110 people have shown up to play golf today, which is more than I was expecting,” he said.
The local golf group normally hosts similar days in honour of past Veterans Golf Group members, but this year the committee unanimously decided to hold the 18 holes Medley Ambrose in honour of much-loved Anthony Diprose.
”Today’s turnout shows just how much people love and miss Dipper,” said Mr Roberts.
Mr Diprose was known for his warm spirit and generosity before sadly passing away. A raffle will be held later today at the golf course, with all raised money donated to Fairview and Gwydir Industries.
“Dipper was always giving, especially to this pair,” said Mr Roberts.
For golfer Phillip Burley, he couldn’t think of a better way to remember a good friend.
“Everyday was golf day for Dipper: he loved his golf.”
The men’s and women’s trophies will be presented at 4pm.
