Moree Plains Shire Council projects officer, Esther Chapman, said it was confirmed Tim Omaji would be at the grand final and would perform for the crowd.
“Our first audition starts in Goondiwindi this Sunday at the cultural centre. We will start at 2pm and anyone wanting to audition can register on the day,” she said.
So far, there has not been many registrations but Mrs Chapman hoped all musical performers would show their interest in each of the auditions.
“There are group and individual auditions for youth aged eight to 13 and 14 to 24. We have a junior and senior category so hopefully we have many different musical performers of all ages,” Mrs Chapman said.
After recently changing his name to his birth name Tim Omaji, is set to have a big year of performing.
But he started his rise to fame on a similar stage.
After placing seventh in So You Think You Can Dance Australia in 2009, he was a contestant on Australia’s Got Talent in 2011 where he placed third.
Later that year he signed with Sony Music and released his first single ‘Set it Off’.
“I think Tim Omaji will be a big draw card to the grand final and he is a good performer, so everyone will be happy to see him live at the town hall. We’re hoping tickets will go on sale around mid-March,” she said.
More information regarding tickets to the grand final will feature on council’s website and Facebook page.
“After Goondiwindi, we will be at the Inverell bowling club on March 15 at 2pm, then at the Moree MAAC (pool) on March 22 at 4pm before finishing the auditions at Narrabri bowling club on March 29 at 2pm. People wanting to register can go to the website and find all the details,” she said.
