Each year the club hosts this competition as a way for the members to finish the year with a friendly competition against each other.
Tamworth’s Elise and Kristen made the trip to judge the event and said they were very impressed with the standard of the day and had some very tough sections to judge.
Head teacher, Samantha Cosgrove, said the day was a success.
“We had 70 girls and ladies compete on Sunday. Ten of these girls are heading to nationals in November so it was a great opportunity for them to have a dress rehearsal before the big day and a chance for us to see anything that might need tweaking during the next eight lessons,” she said.
“Club comp is a great chance for our members to watch each of the different age groups and see what they might need to do as they get older. Abby (Price) and I are in the senior section and have the hardest syllabus/routines to learn; most girls don’t get to see us perform so club comp is a great chance for us to show just what you might be doing in years to come and to practice before our competition in a few weeks,” Cosgrove said.
2014 has been the club’s 20th year operating in Moree.
To celebrate they hosted an inter-club competition in August which saw more than 200 competitors grace the floor in Moree to compete.
With 10 six to 14-year-olds yet to compete at their junior national competition, the year is set to finish on a high according to Cosgrove.
“Thank you to everyone who came and watched on Sunday and all the members who lent a hand,” she said.
“Congratulations to the prize recipients of Sunday’s competition. All the other prizes and awards for the year will be handed out at the presentation night at the Amaroo Tavern on Saturday, November 15.”
