The page is called the Moree Street Wise Community Watch and was started by a local, who would like to remain anonymous, on June 20.
Although the local would like to be anonymous, they were still happy to have a chat about the page and its purpose.
The local said they started the page after their home was broken into, and thought it would be a good idea if they could inform other around them.
“The Moree police have been fantastic and are trying their best to stop this kind of crime.
“I felt that this page could also help them by making people become more aware of what is happening around them,” they said.
The idea of the page is for locals to post what criminal activity has been happening around them, after they have reported it to police.
Then, hopefully it will encourage locals in the same area of the crime to make sure everything is locked up and safe.
“The police need our help to catch these criminals and if people are more alert and report things as they see them happening it may just stop them or family and friends from being victims of crime.
“This page is not a first call to report your crime you must call the police first and then warn others by putting the information on the page.”
The motto of the page is ‘if you see something, say something’ in the hope locals will be more alert.
There have been over 10 posts on the page, reminding locals to report crime, sharing information of reported thefts and advising locals of break-ins and where they occurred.
“We need to look out for neighbours and neighbourhoods.”
If you would like to see the page, search for Moree Street Wise Community Watch in the search bar at the top of your Facebook page.
“Don’t forget to report the crime to the police before posting on the page.”
