The Suns rocketed out of the blocks to lead by 17 points before the Nomads pegged them back in a tight final quarter.
The Nomads edged in front until five minutes out from the final hooter when the Suns came back to claim the 3.8-26 Moree and 4.2-26 New England draw.
Suns' secretary Annette Hadley said there's plenty to take away from the match, including accuracy with the boot.
"We were able to put a lot of pressure on our opponents in the first half where we were able to take a 17-0 lead," she said.
"While we gave ourselves opportunities in front of goal - 11 attempts to the Nomads' six - we were unable to capitalise on these in order to break away from the opposition which contributed to the result being a draw rather than a win.
"After losing the lead with less than five minutes to go we were able to get back level and force a draw, showing determination, effort and grit to the very end to keep up with our opponents."
Caitlin Sims was awarded players' player for her "impressive performance around the field in attack and defence" while Lucy Suttor's effort in the ruck position earned her the coach's award.
Shea Mitchell earned the captain's award.
The Nomads nominated Colleen Fernando as the Suns' best on ground.
