Moree COVID-19: no new cases of locally acquired COVID-19 in NSW overnight as affected Moree businesses reopen

State-wide statistics indicate no locally-acquired COVID-19 cases were recorded across NSW in the latest testing period, which included results from hundreds of Moree residents who turned up for testing in the past few days.

The Melbourne couple roadtripped north while potentially infectious and stopped in Moree for three days between June 3 and June 5, where they visited a cafe, pub, clothing store and the thermal pools.

The Omega Cafe was listed as an exposure site and has confirmed all staff have been swabbed and returned a negative result.

The popular Balo Street cafe was able to reopen its doors bright and early on Saturday morning, just in time for the long weekend, after it was closed for two days and deep-cleaned.

"Two of our key staff members, although providing a negative test result, have been deemed as close contacts and have been asked by the NSW Health department to remain isolated until next Friday," the cafe said.

"So please be patient with us as we will be short staffed.

"Thanks again to all our wonderful customers for supporting us through this scary time."

The couple spent their Friday night, on June 4, at the Amaroo Tavern in Moree.

The pub confirmed it had been disinfected and was also able to open on Saturday in time for long weekend travellers, but with reduced operations due to staff in isolation.

"We will ... expand to our full menu as more staff members are able to resume work, following COVID testing and in accordance with NSW Health directives," a statement said.

Assef's clothing store in Moree was also visited by the Melbourne couple and confirmed it has been cleaned but the shopfront would be forced to close until June 18 due to staff isolating, despite returning negative tests.

Hunter New England Health (HNEH) confirmed 368 people were screened for COVID-19 at Moree clinics on Saturday and Sunday.

More than 1000 people were tested during the two days prior.

Anyone who attended the venues in Moree or Coonabarabran at the times listed above must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received and await further information from NSW Health.

Anyone who lives, works or has visited the area should be extremely vigilant for the onset of symptoms, seek out a test immediately if symptoms arise, and isolate until a negative result is received.

NSW Health said it is continuing to investigate the movements of the case in regional NSW, and the list of venues and times will be updated.

Residents should monitor the NSW Health website and social media for updates on testing clinics and COVID-19 case locations.
