Curious Creatures, wild minds is the theme for Book Week 2020, which gets underway from this Saturday.

This year's Book Week is being celebrated from October 17 to 23 and although it is usually held in August, the Children's Book Council of Australia is promising the same amount of fun.

To celebrate Book Week 2020, Big Sky Libraries is inviting children and their families to storytime in Apex Park, Moree next Friday.

Children are encouraged to dress-up as their favourite character from a book, fitting with this year's theme, 'curious creatures, wild minds'.

"We usually hold a storytime session at the library and invite children and their families to join us; this year we have decided to take the opportunity to have storytime outside at Apex Park in Moree!" Big Sky Libraries manager Sally Walters said.

"To celebrate this year's theme of 'curious creatures, wild minds', we are also encouraging children to come dressed as their favourite character from a book fitting with the theme.

"As spots are limited, we are asking parents to contact the Moree branch to book in for the session."

The Storytime in the Park session will be replacing the regular in-house session next week and be held at Apex Park, on the corner of Gwydir and Edward Streets, at 10.30am on Friday, October 23.

The excitement surrounding Book Week is not just reserved for the library's youngest readers, with school-aged members invited to enter the library's Book Week competition.
