One of 15 teams to take part, Northern Nations went undefeated, only giving up three goals across five games on their way to victory.
The men's side was coached by Moree's Darrel Smith and was put in a pool with Dunghutti Brothers, Dhubu Dinawan B and Roseby Park Saltwater Gathers to kick off the tournament.
Northern Nations won all three games with a goal difference of seven to set up a semi-final showdown against Djuwin Walimburra. They proved far too strong for a 3-0 for a spot in the grand final.
They would come up against a tough opponent in Dhubu Dinawan A in the grand final, in what was a back-and-forth affair.
Northern Nations took an early 1-0 lead before Dhubu Dinawan bounced back to tie it up, but Northern Nations were able to get back in control with another goal shortly before half time to go into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Northern Nations were the first on the board in the second half, extending their lead to 3-1 but Dhubu Dinawan hit back, making it 3-2 with around 20 minutes remaining.
They were able to hold onto their lead, however, and secure the grand final victory.
"It was really good," Smith said.
"We had a really good squad this year. We had Mark Bridge play for us.
"He was playing A-league last year, he's an ex-Socceroo. He came and played and had a great time, so he's keen to keep coming back now."
Smith said Bridge is almost certain to visit Moree in the near future, when Northern Nations holds more soccer skills clinics next year, with a couple of Matildas players potentially joining as well.
