Five male staff members from Pius X have been participating in Movember this month, growing moustaches to raise money and awareness for some of men's biggest health issues - mental health, prostate and testicular cancer.
Two doctors, Dr Dhazi and Dr Inkster, Aboriginal men's health worker Kenneth Knox, security guard Gregory Wright and Brod Baker from IT will each shave off their moes during the event at the Pius X hall, from 10am to 2pm on Friday, November 29.
The event will also include a free barbecue and talks from the doctors at Pius about mental health, prostate and testicular cancer.
This is the first time Pius X has taken part in Movember and this year's participation aims to address the issue of men's health in the community.
"I've stepped into a men's health role to do more to promotion for men's health in the community," Mr Knox said.
"We have a lot of men's health problems here in Moree. Our mental health is not good, with the amount of suicides in town over the past 12 months."
So far the men have raised about $900 for Movember, and people are encouraged to still donate to the cause. Pius is running a raffle, with prizes including gift vouchers from Any Occasion Quality Catering, Fishabout, gift baskets from Amcal Pharmacy and bottles of wine.
Tickets will be available to purchase on Friday.
All are welcome to attend the event, with men particularly encouraged to come along.
