The Goannas, made up of players from Moree, were at the top of their game from the beginning as they won all three of their pool games by a total score of 80-19.
They opened the day with a 30-7 win over Wellington, then a 21-5 victory over Walgett before finishing the pool stage with a 29-7 defeat of the Sydney Sea Turtles.
They entered the main draw in the quarter finals, but came up against a strong Bourke Warriors outfit and went down 24-10, which made them eligible for the plate final.
The Goannas beat Gordon 26-17 in the plate semi final and then cruised to victory in the final, proving far too strong for Kempsey Cannonballs in a 45-14 thumping.
Coach Denzel Tighe was thrilled with his team's performance throughout the day.
"It was really successful overall," he said.
"It was a long day, but yeah I think we went well for our second year.
We had a very young squad, they were pretty good overall. We looked very strong."
Tighe said most of the players have rugby league backgrounds but the experience from last year helped the team.
"It was the same core group [from last year], a few new faces," he said.
"Obviously they know a bit more about rugby now."
Tighe singled out Josh Walker and Alex Barker as two of the standout players on the day, but he was extremely pleased with the entire team's efforts.
"Alex was really good, they all played off him. He really took direction of the team," he said.
"And Josh Walker, he scored five tries in the final, so that was really good."
