Wright, who used to live in Moree, has been living in Goondiwindi for around 20 years and is pleased to return to Moree.
“It’s been fantastic. It's been really good,” Wright said.
“Members and commitee have been really welcoming. I’ve been catching up with old faces. It’s been a positive move to come back down to Moree.
“I’m in no rush to leave. I’ve been here before, when I was 24 I was club professional here.”
Wright had nothing but praise for the golf course and the state it has been kept in under difficult weather.
“The course is magnificent. It’s holding up under this weather fantastic. The green keepers have been doing a fantastic job,” he said.
“The town should be proud, its a great asset for the town. To get a country town with a golf course of this quality is quite rare so they should be really proud.”

Wright has already been busy making sure everything is ready for a big year for the club.
“We’re currently revamping the pro shop, we should have it fully stocked by the end of February,” he said.
“Opening day is on March 1, we plan to have it all up and running before then.”
The club will also be hosting a junior clinic and ladies afternoon next week.
The junior clinic will commence on Thursday, February 7 at 4pm, ready for the junior competition to begin on Saturday, February 9.
A Fun Friday ladies golf afternoon will be held every Friday afternoon, beginning on February 8.
There will be a 30-minute clinic run by Wright followed by a ‘hit and giggle’ three-hole Ambrose and finishing off with nibbles at the club house. Cost is $15 per person, all inclusive.
For more information about the junior clinic or Fun Friday ladies golf, call the Pro shop on 6752 1480.
