Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) is a two-year home-based early childhood learning and parenting program designed to help kids prepare for school.
Trained tutors work with four and five year old children and their parents and encourage parents to spend 15 minutes per day introducing reading, play and educational activities.
In 2018, HIPPY worked with 60 four and five-year old children and their families.
At their HIPPY Day, Miyay Birray were aiming to resign some kids and sign up new participants in the program.
Miyay Birray’s holiday program continues for the rest of the week, with a trip to the movies and pool in Narrabri and a messy art day at the SHAE Academy still in store.
The program finishes on Friday, February 1 with a primary school disco and a secondary school disco.
