The event is open to people of all ages, with both an adult and a kids’ race.
Adult participants had the option of doing a regular triathlon, consisting of a 200m swim, 12km bike ride and a 2.5km run, or a beginner triathlon, made up of a 100m swim, 6km ride and a 1.7km run.
It is a non-competitive event, with the main focus being on participation and enjoyment.
Club president Mike MacCue was very pleased with how the event turned out.
“It was the first one back for the year and everyone had a really good time,” he said.
“We had nine adult participants, and we have a kids triathlon as well for five to 12-year-olds. There were four kids there on the weekend.”
There were also a couple of newcomers to the Moree event, including participants from out of town.
“We had one come up from Narrabri and we had someone come down from North Star. It wasn’t his first triathlon but his first in Moree,” MacCue said.
“Anyone is welcome and we are all there for a good time.”
The next triathlon will be held on Saturday, January 19, beginning at 7am at the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre.
