A number of awards were given to highest points scorers, most improved and best and fairest for all efforts put in by the up and coming talents.
Junior Winter Tennis competition coordinator Bec Bridge said this season, junior players played each other once accumulating points at the end of each round contributing to an overall score.
“This year Frederick Finlayson was the overall winner of the silver competition and Ryan Bridge was the runner up. They put in some fantastic efforts on the court,” she said.
The silver comp most improved was Aydan McGuire and best and fairest was awarded to Albert Osborn.
Most improved for the bronze was Rohan Shaw and Flo Crowe.
“The winner and runner up was based purely on overall score points throughout the season but the best and fairest and most improved was a committee decision based on performance throughout the Autumn and Winter seasons,” Bridge said.
Bridge said the junior seasonal competitions were beneficial to players who continuously took the court and participated in regular coaching.
“The two work really well,” she said.
To top off the season, players who participated in the Autumn and Winter comps have the opportunity to participate in the Junior Club Championships on October 20.
Players will take the court for singles, doubles and mixed matches at the Moree tennis courts, starting at around 8am.
“Depending on how many participants we get, it could run all day,” Bridge said.
On behalf of the Moree Tennis Club, Margie Buckley thanked Bridge for her time and dedication put towards the junior competition in Moree.
“Bec run her last Friday afternoon tennis comp and the club is sad to see her go. She will be missed when she leaves us next year,” she said.
