The home side proved the better team on the day during the top-of-the-table clash, securing a 36-19 victory over the second-placed Blue Boars.
“It was a pretty polished performance for the boys,” Moree second grade coach Sylvester Joseph said.
“I thought they played really well, especially for this time of the season, as it’s coming into the business end of things.
“We’ll be playing the same Narrabri team in two weeks, so it’s good to get the psychological edge on them now, which will hopefully hold us in good stead.
“Narrabri are always a quality opposition.”

With Narrabri claiming the upper hand when the arch-rivals met earlier in the season, Joseph said it was good for Moree to win this time around, and that fair refereeing made a big difference.
Captain Sam Copeman stood out for Moree on the day, while Jake Cutcliffe and Heath Riggs also played well.
“As captain [Sam] really controlled things,”Joseph said.
“We had a few injuries in the backs and blokes away and Sam really stepped up and led the boys around the park.
“In the forwards as a whole, everyone stepped up. They’re fighting for spots heading to the finals, so they’ve stepped up and are staking their claim which is bringing the best out of each other.”
Moree will have a week off before facing Narrabri again in the major semi-final in Tamworth on September 1.
Joseph said there’s still plenty of work to do “to finish off the season properly”.
“We’ve got the beauty of a bye to work on polishing things off and fine-tuning aspects of our game, errors and weaknesses, and making sure we can pull it all together for two weeks time and hopefully two weeks after that,” he said.
“Minimising errors is a big thing for us. We’ve got to make sure we get our set pieces working. It’s a big point of difference in our games compared to other teams.
“It should be a close game. Narrabri will be smarting from the loss but they’ll go away and work on their weaknesses and they’ll come back better prepared.”
Joseph would like to thank the Moree community and the Bulls’ supporters who get behind the boys every home game.
